Sycamore Youth Cheer Parent Code of Conduct
This document presents the expectations of all participants involved with the Sycamore Youth Cheerleading program
- Our organization is run entirely by volunteers, parents who dedicate their time and energy to fostering a positive environment for all involved.
 - All participants must show respect, positive sportsmanship, and appropriate behavior, should refrain from harassment or intimidation towards board members, coaches or other participants.
 - The decision to exclude a participant will be at the discretion of the Sycamore Youth Cheer board.
 
For Parents & Participants
To foster a safe, supportive, and respectful environment, all parents, guardians, and participants of the Youth Cheerleading Organization agree to adhere to the following Code of Conduct:
1. Respect and Sportsmanship
- Treat all athletes, coaches, board members, volunteers, and other parents with respect at all times—both on and off the field.
 - Show good sportsmanship in all circumstances. Cheer positively and support all participants.
 - Accept decisions made by coaches and board members with maturity and civility, even when in disagreement.
 
2. Zero Tolerance for Bullying or Intimidation
- Bullying, harassment, threats, or intimidation of any kind—whether verbal, physical, written, or digital—is strictly prohibited.
 - This includes conduct directed at athletes, coaches, board members, volunteers, or other parents.
 - Any incident of bullying or intimidation will be taken seriously and may result in disciplinary action, up to and including removal from the program.
 
3. Appropriate Communication
- All concerns regarding coaching decisions, team placement, or organizational matters must be communicated respectfully and through the appropriate channels (e.g., board meetings, scheduled conferences).
 - Confrontational, aggressive, or harassing behavior—especially toward volunteers, coaches, or board members—will not be tolerated.
 - Parents will not belittle, harass or ridicule anyone involved in Sycamore Youth Cheer–in public, private, in-person, or online.
 
4. Social Media Policy
- Use of social media should reflect the values of good sportsmanship and respect.
 - Do not post any negative, harmful, or disparaging comments about:
- Coaches, board members, volunteers, other athletes, or parents
 - Team selections or performance decisions
 - The organization’s policies or events
 
 - If you have concerns, address them directly and privately through proper channels.
 - Posts that violate this policy may result in disciplinary action, including dismissal from the organization.
 
5. Commitment and Responsibility
- Athletes are expected to attend practices and events on time, ready to participate, and with a positive attitude.
 - Parents are expected to ensure their child meets attendance and behavior expectations.
 - Encourage your child to be responsible, disciplined, and respectful of team rules.
 
6. Consequences of Misconduct
Violation of this Code of Conduct may result in:
- Verbal or written warnings
 - Temporary suspension from practices, games, or events
 - Removal of a parent or participant from the program without refund
 - Involvement of local authorities in cases involving threats or harassment
 
Acknowledgment
All parents/guardians and participants must review and sign this Code of Conduct at the beginning of the season. Continued participation in the program indicates ongoing agreement to these expectations.
